London, 3rd September 2020: OVO, the UK’s largest independent energy supplier serving nearly 5m customers, announces the appointment of Ben Blake as CEO of its flagship retail brand OVO Energy and Simon Maine as Director of Corporate Affairs.
Ben Blake joins OVO as CEO of OVO Energy and Smart Home, which includes responsibility for the brand, propositions and customer experience for the OVO Energy brand alongside the development of OVO Energy brand internationally. Under Ben’s leadership the team will focus on continuing to deliver a market leading experience for OVO Energy members as well as the development of new zero carbon technologies to support the energy transition.
Ben is currently SVP and General Manager at Expedia Group, the world’s largest travel company, where he leads the Hotels.com brand, and brings a wealth of marketing, product management and commercial experience gained from prior roles at McKinsey and CNN. He starts in mid November.
Simon Maine joins the leadership team in the newly created role of Director of Corporate Affairs and will be responsible for public affairs, policy, media relations and sustainability.
As part of the brief he will coordinate corporate communications activity across the whole OVO Group, including all retail brands, international brands and the Kaluza technology brand. Simon joins OVO in mid-October, from strategic advisory firm Brunswick, where he currently leads their practice in power, renewables and new energy technologies.
Ben and Simon join alongside recent senior hires such as CFO Bill Castell from Virgin Media, CPO Charlotte Eaton from ARM and COO Ramen Bhatia from HSBC.
