Last month, OVO Energy began a new partnership with the Prince’s Trust and launched ‘Get into Customer Services’ – a programme that gives young people exposure to a career in customer services and the opportunity to secure role at OVO.
The programme has been a real success and we are delighted to announce that we have offered roles to seven young people who completed the programme.
Over the past four weeks, the group have gone from knowing very little about energy, OVO or customer services, to confidently making calls offering smart meters to existing OVO customers. We’ve seen the young people grow in confidence and demonstrate commitment to working at OVO, and they’re now an integral part of our Smart Outbound team. They’ve made an amazing contribution to OVO and our customers by booking almost 500 smart meter installations in the three weeks they were on the phones.
Not only that, but they’ve achieved a City and Guilds qualification in customer service and undertaken employability training to improve skills such as interview preparation and CV-writing. The group also spent the day volunteering with conservation work at one of our OVO Gives Back charities – Avon Wildlife Trust’s Feed Bristol project – which provides people from Bristol with the opportunity to learn how to grow food.
OVO’s Smart Outbound Team Leaders have said that the young people have been an absolute delight to work with and that everyone involved has really enjoyed the experience.
The young people themselves discovered how much fun it can be working for an energy company and having secured employment at OVO, they’re beginning to think about what their careers may look like. They’ve grown and developed as a group and genuine friendships have been made on this programme.
We’re really proud of the progress that these seven young people have made and are looking forward to welcoming the new recruits to the OVO family.
